Carcassonne
Carcassonne is a Cathar Castle in the south of France near the Spanish border. It's the largest castle in Europe (and possibly the world) and looks over a very nice little town also called Carcassonne. From the train station you walk through the town of Carcassonne until you get to a promenade which you cross and take a left at the foot bridge. This will wind you up a small street to the entrance of Carcassonne the castle. Inside the castle is an entire village made up of shops and restaurants. At one point in history the village was the town of Carcassonne. Once the Spanish border moved further south the people moved from within the confines of the walls to the valley floor.
