Class times: Mon-Fri 9:30-3:30pmNetworking has changed the world. Without networking we wouldn't have the internet. In this class you will learn about networking hardware and software. The networking hardware includes hubs, switches, wireless access points, routers and cabling. We will discuss the purpose of each and build a network using them. We will cover current networking technologies like gigabit Ethernet, wireless networks, Homepna and Powerline networking. You will learn about real world performance advantages of each. We will also cover networking
protocols like tcp, ip, ftp, http, pop and more. You will understand
how ip addressing works and how to configure a network. We will also
cover network security like configuring personal firewalls and
improving wireless security. We we will sniff the network and do vulnerability assessments on our network as well. We will learn how hackers gain access to networks and how to prevent this from happening.
At the end of this class you will be able to make network cables and connect and configure your devices on the network. Included in the class is a 30 foot network cable which would cost $25 in a store.
This class is for high school students with DOS and Windows skills and a penchant for learning.
